NITROX DIVER

The first of TDI‘s technical diving courses is the Nitrox diver. It is the first step into the world of mixed gas diving. It is extremely popular with recreational divers looking to stay down longer by reducing nitrogen loading during the dive.

This certification allows you to be able to plan dives to your existing depth qualification using any mix of Nitrox (enriched air) up to 40% o2 content.

PRE REQUISITES:

  • Minimum age 18, 15 with parental consent
  • Have a minimum certification of open water diver or a current
enrollment in an open water diver course

INTRO TO TECH

The TDI Intro to Tech course introduces students to the world of technical diving courses.
This course is designed as an introductory course to the TDI Advanced Nitrox course and the TDI Decompression Procedures Course. It is the perfect course for those looking for formal twin tank training.

Course objectives are to familiarise students with technical equipment configurations, to enhance open water diving skills (such as buoyancy, trim, and situational awareness), and to introduce students to advanced gas planning techniques within a no-decompression context. Intro to Tech is strictly a no-decompression course; students are permitted to use enriched air nitrox (EAN) mixes, provided the gas mix is within their current level of certification.

PRE REQUISITES:

  •  Minimum age 18, 15 with parental consent
  • Minimum certification an SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent
  • Provide proof of 25 logged open water dives

SIDEMOUNT DIVER

It is designed to teach certified divers how to safely utilise sidemounted primary cylinders as an alternative to the traditional back-mounted configuration. This course can be combined with other TDI courses such as: Decompression Procedures, Extended Range, Trimix, Advanced Trimix and Advanced Wreck.

Sidemount diving has increased in popularity in recent years amongst recreational divers and technical divers. Many cave and wreck divers prefer this set up as its streamlined, versatile and enables them to navigate through restrictions that would otherwise be impossible to pass through.

PRE REQUISITES:

  • Minimum age 18
  • Open Water Diver

ADVANCED NITROX DIVER 40m

The TDI Advanced Nitrox course can be taken alone as your entry level Technical Diver certification on twins or can be combined with entry level CCR training. However, it is most commonly taken in conjunction with the TDI Decompression Procedures Course.

This course examines the use of EAN-21 through 100 percent oxygen for optimal mixes to a depth of 40 metres. The objective is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for utilising EAN-21 through 100 percent oxygen for dives not requiring staged decompression. Intro to Tech may be combined with this course.

The Advanced Nitrox can be combined with the TDI Air Diluent CCR or used a a prerequisite for rebreather training.

PRE REQUISITES:

  • Minimum age 18, 15 with parental consent
  • Minimum certification of TDI Nitrox Diver, or equivalent
  • Show proof of 25 logged open water dives
  • If this course is taught in conjunction with the TDI Decompression Procedures course, the minimum age is 18

DECOMPRESSION PROCEDURES DIVER 45m

This course examines the theory, methods and procedures of planned stage decompression diving. It is designed as a stand-alone course but may be taken in conjunction with the TDI Advanced Nitrox, Advanced Wreck, or Extended Range.

The objective of this course is to train divers how to plan and conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of 45 metres unless taught in conjunction with the TDI Extended Range Course. The most common equipment requirements, equipment set-up and decompression techniques are presented. Students are permitted to utilise enriched air nitrox (EAN) mixes or oxygen for decompression provided the gas mix is within their current certification level.

PRE REQUISITES:

  • Minimum age 18
  • Minimum certification of SDI Advanced Adventure Diver , Advanced Diver, or equivalent
  • Provide proof of 25 logged open water dives

ADVANCED NITROX AND DECOMPRESSION PROCEDURES 45m

The TDI Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures course is regarded by many as the entry level certification and is the most popular of all technical diving courses. It combines two courses to give the benefit of being able to accelerate decompression using high o2 mixes. This course can be taken on twins or sidemount and allows you to be able to plan and conduct deco dives to a maximum depth of 45 metres.

PRE REQUISITES:

  • Minimum age 18
  • Minimum certification of SDI Advanced Adventure Diver , Advanced Diver, or equivalent
  • Provide proof of 25 logged open water dives

EXTENDED RANGE 55m

This Deep Air Diving course trains divers to safely and confidently use air for dives that require staged decompression to a maximum depth of 55 metres. During the course, divers apply nitrox and oxygen mixtures while performing decompression. Furthermore, the training teaches proper techniques, equipment requirements, and the hazards of deep air diving. As a result, students gain advanced technical skills, including rescue and self-rescue techniques using four tanks. Overall, this course provides an advanced-level technical diver certification, preparing divers to manage complex deep dives safely and effectively.

PRE REQUISITES:

  • Minimum age 18
  • Certified as a TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver and TDI Decompression
    Procedures Diver, or equivalents
  • Provide proof of a minimum of 100 logged dives, of which 25 must be deeper than 30 metres

TRIMIX 60m

The TDI Trimix course trains divers to safely and confidently use breathing gases containing helium for dives that require staged decompression. Divers learn to apply nitrox and oxygen mixtures during decompression to a maximum depth of 60 metres (200 feet). The course teaches the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for using custom oxygen/helium/nitrogen gas mixes. All gas mixes must contain at least 18% oxygen (O₂) and a minimum of 25% helium (He). Recognized as an advanced technical diver certification, this course focuses on rescue and self-rescue skills using four tanks, similar to the TDI Extended Range Diver course but without the effects of narcosis.
